Industria Latticini G. Cuomo Srl is the corporate embodiment of a long-standing tradition of cheese-making, which began not far from Sorrento (Naples) in the town of Vico Equense. This was the birthplace of Giovanni, the head of the Cuomo family.
During 1945, just after the end of the war, Giovanni moved permanently to Sermoneta in the province of Latina and decided to base his mozzarella production there.
In the early post-war years, the business only produced small quantities of cheese. Giovanni not only produced all the mozzarella by himself, he also personally delivered it to dairy retailers in Rome by his three-wheeler during the night.
As time went on, the business expanded considerably, thanks also to his children Cristina, Giuseppe and Stefania, who joined their father in the family business just before his death. They have been committed to ensuring the quality of Cuomo products has remained unchanged. As a result of their hard work production expanded considerably, the factory in Sermoneta no longer had the capacity to meet demand. Today the new generation is running the company, and they decided to open a new factory in Aprilia, about 40 km outside Rome.
The new plant has new production and control technologies, and can meet market demand while maintaining the high level of product quality that distinguishes the Cuomo brand, as well as its links with consumers and distributors, and the Agro Pontino area.
